Due to cultural constraints, our Weaving trip is for women only. The trip offers you the opportunity to experience the richness of the Moroccan rug weaving tradition, very much the woman's domain in this culture.
You'll have hands on training with weavers in the village of Sidi Mokhtar, an hour away from Marrakech in the weaving region of Chichaoua. Based in a weaver's home, you'll be able to learn new skills as well as share your own, and experience the women's day to day lives.
You can also learn about handspinning and have wool custom dyed for your own weaving on your own locally made frame, at the village dyeing workshops. We are responsible in our travel, too. Everyone is paid fairly for their contribution to making your journey into this fascinating weaving world a memorable one.
If you've never touched textiles before, don't worry. All that's required is the desire to learn and explore.
